We hope everyone is enjoying Back to School Season! This also means that it’s time for our Flu Vaccine Clinics! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends all children aged 6months and older be vaccinated against the flu.
Richard Weil, MD
Dr. Richard Weil, a board certified pediatrician, attended The American University in Washington, D.C. where he received his bachelor’s degree in Biology.He then attended Georgetown University for a master’s degree in Physiology as well as his Medical degree. He then completed his pediatric residency at the Emory Affiliated Hospitals and served as chief resident at Grady Hospital. He joined Piedmont Pediatrics in May, 1989. He is married and has two adult children.
Allison Koenig, MD
Dr. Allison Koenig, a board certified pediatrician, was born at Piedmont Hospital and grew up in Atlanta. After attending The Westminster Schools, she went to college at Harvard University where she received a degree in Biology. She earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University and stayed in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins for her pediatric residency. Dr. Koenig completed residency in 2001 and joined Piedmont Pediatrics in September, 2002. She currently serves as a member of the CHOA Community Physician’s Advisory Council and as a board member of Kate’s Club. She also participates in international medical mission trips each year.
Elizabeth Griffith, MD
Dr. Elizabeth (or Beth) Griffith, a board certified pediatrician, grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. She attended Emory University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She stayed in Atlanta to earn her medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Griffith then moved to Chicago where she completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital ( now Lurie Childrens) of Northwestern University. She also served as chief pediatric resident at Children’s Memorial Hospital. After her chief year, Dr. Griffith moved back south and joined Piedmont Pediatrics in July, 2004. She is married with three children.
David Roe, MD
Dr. David Roe, a board certified pediatrician, is an Atlanta native and attended The Westminster Schools. He went on to Furman University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music. He studied medicine at the Medical College of Georgia and then received his pediatric training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. After residency he served in the United States Air Force for three years as a general pediatrician at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. Dr. Roe joined Piedmont Pediatrics in July 2006. He has also served on the board of Sixty Feet, a ministry to underserved and neglected children in Uganda since it's founding in 2010 and is on the board of elders at his church here in Atlanta. He has been happily married to his wife, Charity, for almost 20 years and has four children.
Laura Harris, MD
Dr. Laura Harris, a board certified pediatrician, grew up in Atlanta where she attended The Westminster Schools. She earned a degree in psychology from Princeton University, and then attended Emory University School of Medicine. She then stayed in Atlanta to complete her pediatric residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Harris joined Piedmont Pediatrics in July, 2005. Her husband, Jack Harris, runs two nonprofit education organizations called Junior Achievement of Georgia and 3DE. They have four children, two sons and two daughters.
Steven Elliott, MD
Dr. Steven Elliott, a board certified pediatrician, attended Ohio University where he earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and then received his pediatric training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. After residency he continued at Cincinnati Children's Hospital as a staff physician in the Emergency Room and then in private practice in the Cincinnati area. Dr. Elliott joined Piedmont Pediatrics in May 2008. He routinely serves in under-served communities in Haiti. Dr Elliott lives with his wife and two children.
Anna Bramwell, MD
Dr. Anna Bramwell, a board certified pediatrician, grew up in Atlanta and attended The Lovett School. She graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience and attended Mercer University School of Medicine. Dr. Bramwell completed her pediatric residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in 2008 and then practiced general pediatrics in the Alpharetta area for 2 years. She joined Piedmont Pediatrics in September, 2010. She lives nearby with her husband and three young sons.
Abigail Ivie, APRN, CPNP
Abigail (or Abby) joined Piedmont Pediatrics as a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in September 2016. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing From University of North Florida in 2006 and her Master's of Science in Nursing from Emory University in 2009. She started her career as a Registered Nurse at Wolfson's Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, and worked as a staff nurse for a local Buckhead pediatrician group. After she received her nurse practitioner master's degree, she worked in primary care in Cobb County and for Pediatric ENT of Atlanta for six years. Abby is married with two children.
Barbara Koval, APRN, CPNP
Barbara Koval joined Piedmont Pediatrics as a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in November 2013. She received her Bachelor's degree in the Science of Nursing from Jacksonville University in 1998 and her Master's in the Science of Nursing from Emory University in 2001. She started her career as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Egleston location. After receiving her Master's degree in 2001, she became a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Room at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Scottish Rite facility. In addition to her extensive experience in the ER, Barbara has worked in Primary Care with several other practices in Atlanta. She is married with three young children.
Niaira has been serving the patients of Piedmont Pediatrics since 2006. She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she received certifications in both medical billing and as a medical assistant from Harcum College. By working in medical billing as well as serving patients at both the front and scheduling desks Niaira has gained valuable experience to better server our patients and staff. She now serves as our practice manager. She has been a member of the Medical Group management Associates Network since 2014 and is currently studying for her board certification through the American College of Medical Practice Executives. In her free time, she volunteers with Bright Futures Atlanta where she mentors adolescent girls.
